Good morning!
Top Five reader, James Demby, sent me a recommendation for Sanctum Coffee & Wine Bar after reading last weeks newsletter.
After a visit over the weekend, I can also highly recommend you make the trip!
Anna Housman, bought the deconsecrated church in Oxford, NC in 2023 and opened Sanctum and Daisy Chain Ceramics in the space in 2026. (Y’all know I love a business within a business!)
Thanks again for the recommendation, James!
Best Regards,

On to the Top Five! ⤵️
1) Boutique Hotel: After years in the making, The Gables is now accepting reservations starting September 15th. The project includes an 18 room boutique hotel and a neighborhood bar called The Alcove.
2) New Office: For the first time in years, plans have been submitted for a new office tower in Downtown Raleigh. Highwoods Properties has submitted plans for a mixed-use building with office and retail at 321 W. Hargett St. 400H was the last building to deliver new office in Downtown Raleigh in 2023.
3) We’re #11: On a percentage basis, North Carolina is the 11th ranked state in population growth over the past 55 years. We rank behind Washington, Alaska, and Idaho. Oddly enough, the only place to lose population over that duration is Washington DC.
4) Downtown South: Kane Realty has submitted plans for 350 apartments in Downtown South. This development - a 3 & 4 story garden style (AKA surface parked) community - would be their first project in the first phase of the project.
5) New Retail: Botiwalla opens today at Raleigh Iron Works. Over at East End Market, four new concepts have been announced. Casa Nama and Songbird will provide food, while BC Block and The Daily Pilates will provide fitness.
