Good morning!
This is the 26th edition of Top Five for 2026 which means the year is half over. Can you believe it?
When I asked about vending machines last week, I got a response all the way from Singapore. Apparently they have machines that make fresh juice and smoothies. Impressive!
Speaking of impressive…
High Climb
This week I had the chance to climb the tower crane for The Highline multifamily tower we are building at work. Barnhill Building Group is about 1/3rd of the way finished with the concrete “skeleton” of the 37 story multifamily tower.
The crane is 227’ tall today and will climb to 335’ and top out at 447’. This height makes for great views of Downtown Raleigh!
This is my second time climbing a tower crane. The last time was at 400H. One thing I noticed on this climb that I’d never really thought about before is how these cranes are powered. This crane (and maybe all cranes) is electric, so the whole apparatus is powered by a large extension cord running up from the ground.
The whole experience was amazing, and I can’t wait to do it again as the crane grows!
Jeff’s Bagel Run
This week I also got my first bite of the new Jeff’s Bagel Run at Glenlake. They open at 630am 7-days a week, making it a great first stop on your morning walk. I was the first in line, but I wasn’t the only one when they opened up Sunday morning!
Raleigh Planning Academy
Applications are open for the Raleigh Planning Academy. If you’re interested in learning about Planning in Raleigh (I know you are), check it out!
