Good morning!
More Cali Small Scale
No Top Five this week, but in honor of our first Small Scale Raleigh meetup tonight, here are a few more small scale examples from Southern California!
Here is a beach side oyster bar in Ventura. They seem to have a “permanent” food truck, plush tables and shucking stands. It’s located right on the promenade in the state park and public bathrooms are nearby.
Here is a classic from Inglewood. Small shop, big sign.
This is a little cabin in Kings Canyon National park. I didn’t check out the inside, but I’m smitten. It’s part of their Lodge, so technically it’s hospitality not residential.
In Three Rivers, California we came be a fantastic small coffee shop and restaurant. They had extensive outdoor seating overlooking the river. They even had an outdoor bar, but I was told that was only for weddings.
These office suites in Ventura are some of the most shallow pieces of commercial real estate I’ve ever seen! Small spaces means (relatively) low rent. That second level has a street front porch as well.
Right down the street from the office building above is this awesome little fourplex. I don’t know if construction gets much more simple than this.
And last but not least. LA has a round hotel too! I know it’s not small, but I wanted to include it anyway.
Have a great week, and I hope to see you tonight!
Best Regards,
Jed Byrne
